Day 1: Ha Noi – Arrival (-/-/-)

Day 2: Ha Noi Heritage sites (B/L/-)

Stop At: Hanoi, Hanoi
Visit Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and One-Pillar Pagoda – a must-see monument in Ha Noi. We will also visit Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), the first Imperial school in Vietnam built in 1070 during the dynasty of King Ly.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will pay a visit to the Women’s Museum; listed among Asia’s top 25 museums (closed on Mondays). The museum honors Vietnamese women throughout history and includes displays of recent history as well. Exhibits include: “Women and Ethnicity”, “Women and the National Struggle”, “Vietnam Women’s Association and Feminism”, “Women and Traditional Costumes” and “Women’s Cultural Traits Expressed Through Handicrafts”. Then we take a cyclo (pedicab) ride around the “36 meandering streets” of Ha Noi’s historic Old Quarter and visit Tran Quoc Pagoda as well as Quan Thanh Temple. Overnight in Ha Noi.

Day 3: Ha Noi – Dien Bien Phu (B/L/D) – by flight – 1 hour

Stop At: Dien Bien Phu, Dien Bien Phu, Dien Bien Province
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Noi Bai International airport to go to Dien Bien Phu. Upon arrival at Dien Bien Phu airport, pick up and transfer to the hotel. Check in and relax.
In the afternoon, we will walk around town to visit Dien Bien’s cemetery and museum, as well as explore the local market. Some of 15,000 Viet Minh Soldiers who were killed during the war were buried at this cemetery and this well-laid-out museum, contained in a space-agey modern structure, features an eclectic collection that commemorates the 1954 battle. Alongside weaponry and guns, there is a bath-tub that belonged to the French commander Colonel de Castries, a bicycle capable of carrying 330 kilograms of ordinances, and photographs and documents, some with English translation. Day 4: Dien Bien Phu (B/L/D)

Your day will begin with a trip to the former battlefields where French, after nearly 100 years of colonization and nine years of war, were defeated in 1954 by Viet Minh, led by Ho Chi Minh. Then, visit the headquarters of General Vo Nguyen Giap, used during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. We will have a chance to meet several of the different ethnic minority tribes in the area when we visit the villages of both Thai and H’Mong people. Overnight in Dien Bien Phu.

Day 5: Dien Bien – Ha Noi – Da Nang (B/L/-) – by 2 fights – 3 hours 45 minutes

Day 6: Da Nang – Hue Heritage (B/L/D)

Stop At: Hue, Hue, Thua Thien – Hue Province
Head to Hue, along the North coast of Da Nang to the top of Hai Van Pass where bunkers remaining from the war can be explored. Upon arrival in Hue, we will visit the Citadel,
We will have a short break for lunch then take a boat trip on the Perfume River with a stopover at Thien Mu Pagoda, which is an active Buddhist monastery with its origins dating back to 1601. One of its most poignant displays is a car belonging to a former monk, who in 1963, drove to Sai Gon and set himself alight to protest against the South Vietnamese regime and its cruel treatment of Buddhist monks and followers. We finally visit the serene Khai Dinh Royal Tomb, designed to blend in with its natural surroundings and built on principles of feng-shui. Overnight in Hue.

Day 7: Hue – DMZ – Hoi An (B/L/-)

Stop At: Quang Tri Province, Quang Tri Province
Start with an early morning to visit the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). DMZ is set in the rugged, jungle-shrouded mountains along the Vietnam – Laos border of South Vietnam. We will visit Quang Tri Citadel, Hien Luong Bridge and the Seventeenth Parallel – the former borderline between North and South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Day 8: Marble Mountains & Hoi An City Tour (B/L/-)

The Marble Mountains (Vietnamese: Ngu Hanh Son; literally “five elements mountains”) is a popular sightseeing location in Da Nang because of its alluring beauty. Upon arrival, we will take many steps up to visit the caves and pagodas as well as admire the beautiful panoramic view. You will then go to visit Son Tra Linh Ung Pagoda. Built under the reign of King Minh Mang during the Nguyen Dynasty (the 19th century), legend has it a Buddhist statue drifted downstream to the area and got anchored at a sandy embankment. Have lunch at a local restaurant.

Then discover the city of Hoi An on foot. While walking through the city, we will make a few stops to visit Hoi An Museum, many of the town’s renowned Ancient Houses which boast remarkable architecture, Assembly Halls of Chinese influence; Art Craft Manufacturing Workshop and of course the must-see Japanese Covered Bridge. These spots are considered as typical architecture styles in Hoi An and reflect clearly the cross culture among France, Japan, China and Vietnam. Used to be a prosperous seaport city in the 16th century, passing over hundreds of years and withstanding the severity of the weather, Hoi An still exists and keeps the ancient and quiet beauty. Day 9: My Son Sanctuary – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City (B/-/-) – by flight – 1 hour

Stop At: My Son Sanctuary, Duy Phu Vietnam
40 kilometers to the West of Hoi An is My Son Sanctuary – Vietnam’s most important site of the ancient kingdom of Champa. Between the 4th and 13th century a unique culture which owed its spiritual origins to Indian Hinduism developed on the coast of then contemporary Vietnam. This is graphically illustrated by the remains of a series of impressive tower-temples located in a dramatic site that was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom for most of its existence. Located in the heart of a beautiful valley and surrounded by high mountains ranges, My Son was named a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999. Originally built with wood, they were completely destroyed by fire in the 6th century and restored in the 7th century by Sambhuvarman who rebuilt the temples with locally made bricks. Up to the 13th century, more than 70 similar temples were built, establishing My Son as a sanctuary of Hinduism in the Champa Kingdom.

Day 10: Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh City Tour (B/L/-)

Stop At: Cu Chi Tunnels, Phu Hiep TL15 Phu Hiep, Ho Chi Minh City 700000 Vietnam
Start the day with a visit to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels. Stretching over 250 kilometers, Cu Chi is one of the most famous and historical aspects of war in Vietnam. The tunnel system was created in 1948 to assist the Viet Minh as they fought the French for independence and became legendary during the 1960s in playing a vital role in the Vietnam War by allowing the Viet Cong (communist guerrillas) to control large rural areas, just 65 kilometers away from Ho Chi Minh City. This system of tunnels consists of hospitals, rooms, kitchens, store areas, and working rooms underground. This tunnel was excavated in the area with clay mixing with laterite. So this tunnel is rather durable and stable. The air is transferred to the tunnels through ventilation holes.

In the afternoon, we will visit some of the other major attractions in Ho Chi Minh City: War Remnants, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office. These buildings are considered as the symbols of Ho Chi Minh City because of their architecture and historical meanings. We also will visit Thien Hau Pagoda in Cho Lon – a Chinese-style temple located on Nguyen Trai Street in Cho Lon (China Town). Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
