Cast by Emperor Gia Long in 1803. Nine cannons are considered as one of the most valuable bronze works of art. The ancient nine cannons were placed at the at the entrance of the Ngo Mon Gate – the imperial city of Hue. During the reign of King Khai Dinh, they were relocated to their current position.
This is the main gate to go into Imperial City, built in 1833 in the traditional Vietnamese style under the rule of King Minh Mang and used by the Kings for army parade and ceremonies.
Called Kỳ Đài in Vietnamese is an architectural monument of the Nguyen Dynasty located in the middle of the south face of Hue citadel within the Nam Chanh fortress which is also the place to hang the flag of the royal court.
This Palace is located in the Imperial City area of Hue citadel, which is the coronation place of 13 Nguyen kings from Gia Long to Bao Dai. In feudal regimes, this palace was considered the center of the country, and only used for grand meeting.
These are nine bronze urns, located in front of The Mieu Temple in Hue Imperial Citadel. The Nine Peaks was commissioned by Emperor Minh Mang in the winter of 1835 and inaugurated on March 1, 1837.
The Mieu also called The To Mieu built in 1821 by Second Kings of the Nguyen Dynasty – Minh Mang. This is a temple to worship 10 Kings of the Nguyen Dynasty.
This was living area for 13 Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1804 to 1945 when Hue was the Capital of Vietnam.
Thieu Phuong Garden is one of four royal gardens in the Imperial Citadel, including Thieu Phuong Vien, Ngu Vien, Co Ha Vien, and Doanh Chau. The garden was built in 1828, during the reign of Minh Mang, in the east, inside the Hung Khanh gate, belonging to the Forbidden City.
Hue Imperial Citadel is the Home of Vietnam’s last Royal Dynasty, and the complex of the monument is the first UNESCO Heritage Site in Vietnam. In 1802, after Nguyen Phuc Anh founded the Nguyen Dynasty. He became the first King with tittle Gia Long, and decided Hue to become the Capital for the whole Country. In 1804, King Gia Long decided to build Imperial Citadel in the present area.
Thai Binh Lau is a two-story wooden building located in the middle of a rectangular campus 32m wide and 58m long. Located in the northeast of the Forbidden City. Thai Binh Lau was ordered by King Khai Dinh to be built in 1919, and by 1921 it was completed so that the king could rest in his free time, and was also a place for the king to read books.
Duyet Thi Duong is a theater for the king, royal families, mandarins and a place to perform operas for guests and envoys to enjoy. This is also where special festivals are held. Those attending were civil and military mandarins, princes, royal brothers, etc. In 1833 (the 14th reign of Minh Mang), the Nguyen court organized the minting of “Minh Mang Phi Long” coins right at this location.
Located in the east of Imperial city and used every day by government officials to go in and out when they need to go and meet the King.
