Begin your journey in the early hours of the morning (approximately 4:30am – 4.45 am) to see Hanoi in a way few tourists ever get to experience.
You shall bike this morning for 3 -5 km with your guide to the Hanoi morning flower market; this is the busiest time of the day at the market where you will see the local vendors in action. The array of colours and activities on display makes for some truly unique photo opportunities. From here you have a short ride of 3 km to the West Lake on top of Hanoi’s old quarter, where you will see the early risers begin their morning exercise. This is a very active time of the day for the local inhabitants of Hanoi and you may see Tai Chi, badminton and a range of other activities along the bank of the lake.
Stop in the front of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to see the flag raising ceremony and then continue cycling past famous city landmarks, including the city’s flag tower, the statue of Lenin which is the last standing in the country, then cycle over Long Bien Bridge and back (7 km). Built in 1903 and formally known as the Paul Droumer Bridge, it was an engineering feat in the French colonial times and was bombed relentlessly during the American War in an attempt to break key supply lines to Hanoi from the port city of Hai Phong. The bridge today still bears the scars of this period.
After cycling over the bridge you will cycle back to the old quarter of Hanoi to stop at a coffee shop for an egg coffee, a famous treat of Hanoi, then back to the hotel at approximately 7.45 am where your tour will end.
