Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest of its kind in Hanoi, dating back to the 6th century during the reign of Emperor Ly Nam De Dynasty (544 – 548). The Buddhist shrine has undergone several changes throughout the years, particularly its renaming from An Quoc to Tran Quoc (protecting the country) by Emperor Le Huy Tong in the 17th century.

Although it’s now set on an islet within West Lake, the pagoda was originally located on banks of Red River before it’s relocated in 1615due to the river’s encroachment. Surrounded by lush greenery, Tran Quoc Pagoda was a favourite amongst the kings and royal families for festivals, full moons, and Tet Festival.

Our tour guide will pick you up then we will start our Hanoi Old Quarter Walking Tour. The first destination of the tour will stop by Hoan Kiem Lake, considered the heart of Hanoi. You can observe many locals doing morning exercises or taking part in interesting activities such as cycling and playing badminton.

Hoan Kiem Lake is in the historical center of Hanoi. According to the legend, Emperor Le Loi was boating on the lake when a Golden Turtle God (Kim Qui) surfaced and asked for his magic sword, Heaven’s Will. Loi concluded that Kim Qui had come to reclaim the sword that it’s master, the Dragon King (Long Vuong) had given Loi some time earlier, during his revolt against the Chinese Ming Dynasty. Loi renamed the lake to commemorate this event. He renamed the lake from Luc Thuy (Green Water”) to Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword). The Turtle Tower (Thap Rua) standing on a small island near the centre of lake is linked to the legend.

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex is an important place of pilgrimage for many Vietnamese. Within the complex are Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the Presidential Palace and the One Pillar Pagoda.

The One Pillar Pagoda was originally built by the Emperor Ly Thai Tong who ruled from 1028 to 1054. According to the annals, the heirless emperor dreamed that he met Quan The Am Bo Tat, the Goddess of Mercy, who handed him a male child. Ly Thai Tong then married a young peasant girl and had a son and heir by her. As a way of expressing his gratitude for this event, he constructed a pagoda here in 1049.

The Temple of Literature is often cited as one of Hanoi’s most picturesque tourist attractions. Originally built as a university in 1070 dedicated to Confucius, scholars and sages, the building is extremely well preserved and is a superb example of traditional-style Vietnamese architecture.
Lunch served at a local restaurant for a taste of authentic Hanoi cuisine.

After lunch proceed to visit the Ethnology Museum (apply on Sun, Tue, Thu & Sat), the Literature Temple and Quoc Tu Giam, see Vietnam’s first university, constructed in 1070 – it’s gardens and well-preserved architecture will offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam’s past. Take you past Hoan Kiem Lake to see the peaceful waters. and the beauty of Ngoc Son temple. in the end, journey through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, where you’ll then have a chance for some shopping and exploration.

Day 2: Hanoi – Mai Chau biking ( Lunch, dinner)

07h45 – 08h15: Our comfortable bus and tour guide pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter.

Stop At: Thung Khe Pass, Highway 6, Mai Chau Vietnam
10h00: Stop for short break.

11h00: Check in Thung Khe Pass ( White Stone mountain) where has 4 season in a day. Take panorama photo of Mai Chau from above.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Lac Village, Mai Chau Vietnam
12h00: Arrive in Ban Lac village; relax with welcome drink in homestay.
Enjoy Thai traditional lunch in restaurant.

14h00: Take part in biking tour with our local guide, you can see farmers working in fields, locals weaving scarves and visit surrounding peaceful villages and take photos.

17h00: Check in and relax in homestay.

+ 18h00: Enjoy dinner in local.

+ 19h30 – 20h30: Take part in traditional Thai dancing show and try rice wine.

Hiking to pass over 1200 step to the top of Chieu Cave – a famous cave in Mai Chau with hundred of stalactites, take photos of Mai Chau town from above.

Stop At: Lac Village, Mai Chau Vietnam
11h00: Back to Ban Lac village, join lunch in restaurant.
After that, you can relax and visit Mai Chau freedom.

+ 15h00: Say goodbye to beautiful Mai Chau valley, the bus transfer you back to Hanoi.
