Day 1: Hanoi free city tour

7:45 – 8:15 : Tour guide from AZ Local Trip picks up you and your group from your hotel or at the confirmed meeting point in Hanoi Old Quarter.

Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest of its kind in Hanoi, dating back to the 6th century during the reign of Emperor Ly Nam De Dynasty (544 – 548). The Buddhist shrine has undergone several changes throughout the years, particularly its renaming from An Quoc to Tran Quoc (protecting the country) by Emperor Le Huy Tong in the 17th century.

Although it’s now set on an islet within West Lake, the pagoda was originally located on banks of Red River before it’s relocated in 1615due to the river’s encroachment. Surrounded by lush greenery, Tran Quoc Pagoda was a favourite amongst the kings and royal families for festivals, full moons, and Tet Festival.

Stop At: Hoan Kiem Lake Walking Street, Around Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi 100000 Vietnam
Our tour guide will pick you up then we will start our Hanoi Old Quarter Walking Tour. The first destination of the tour will stop by Hoan Kiem Lake, considered the heart of Hanoi. You can observe many locals doing morning exercises or taking part in interesting activities such as cycling and playing badminton.

Hoan Kiem Lake is in the historical center of Hanoi. According to the legend, Emperor Le Loi was boating on the lake when a Golden Turtle God (Kim Qui) surfaced and asked for his magic sword, Heaven’s Will. Loi concluded that Kim Qui had come to reclaim the sword that it’s master, the Dragon King (Long Vuong) had given Loi some time earlier, during his revolt against the Chinese Ming Dynasty. Loi renamed the lake to commemorate this event. He renamed the lake from Luc Thuy (Green Water”) to Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword). The Turtle Tower (Thap Rua) standing on a small island near the centre of lake is linked to the legend.

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex is an important place of pilgrimage for many Vietnamese. A traffic-free area of botanical gardens, monuments, memorials and pagodas, it’s usually crowded with groups of Vietnamese who come from far and wide to pay their respects to ‘Uncle Ho’. Within the complex are Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the Presidential Palace and the One Pillar Pagoda.

Stop At: One Pillar Pagoda, Ong Ich Khiem St, Ngoc Ha, Ba Dinh District Ngoc Ha, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi 100000 Vietnam
The One Pillar Pagoda was originally built by the Emperor Ly Thai Tong who ruled from 1028 to 1054. According to the annals, the heirless emperor dreamed that he met Quan The Am Bo Tat, the Goddess of Mercy, who handed him a male child. Ly Thai Tong then married a young peasant girl and had a son and heir by her. As a way of expressing his gratitude for this event, he constructed a pagoda here in 1049.

Stop At: Temple of Literature & National University, Quoc Tu Giam Street Dong Da District, Hanoi 100000 Vietnam
The Temple of Literature is often cited as one of Hanoi’s most picturesque tourist attractions. Originally built as a university in 1070 dedicated to Confucius, scholars and sages, the building is extremely well preserved and is a superb example of traditional-style Vietnamese architecture.
Lunch served at a local restaurant for a taste of authentic Hanoi cuisine.

Day 2: Ha Noi – Ha Giang – Thon Tha village ( 2 options )

Pass By: Old Quarter, Hanoi 100000 Vietnam
Option 1: Depart on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings
19:30-19:45: Pick up at your hotel in Ha Noi and depart for Ha Giang by sleeping bus.
You will arrive between 3 am – 4 am the following day. Checking into a Homestay and have a short sleep until the morning.

Option 2: Departs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings
6:00-6:30: Pick up at your hotel in Ha Noi and depart for Ha Giang by bus. You will have a short break with some photo opportunities along the way.
* Join and continue the itinerary of Ha Giang 2 days one night by sleeping bus.

Stop At: Ha Giang, Ha Giang, Ha Giang Province
Option 1: After breakfast, you will begin by trekking through terraced rice paddy fields for about 1,5 hours.

We will visit some villages to get a taste of the authentic daily rural life. You can experience the culture and customs of the Tay people in this village.

You will be welcomed by a hospitable Tay family who offers overnight accommodation in their stilt house. Although this place only provides basic comfort, you will find the stay an unforgettable experience.

Option 2: 12:30-13:00: Have lunch with a local Tay family.

After lunch, you will begin by trekking through terraced rice paddy fields. We will visit some villages where the Tay minority people live. You can see their traditional stilt houses have a chance to talk with them about what they do in their daily life.

After trekking through some villages, and experiencing the breathless natural, you will be welcomed by a hospitable Tay family who offers overnight accommodation in their stilt house. Although this place only provides basic comfort, you will find the stay an unforgettable experience.
19:00: Have a memorable dinner with a local Tay family.
Overnight at homestay in Thon Tha village.

Day 3: Thon Tha – Khuoi My – Ha Noi

Stop At: Thon Tha Village, Thon Tha village, Phuong Do Commune Thon Tha village, Phuong Do district, Ha Giang 310000 Vietnam
8:00: After breakfast, the trek begins through a green valley and up the mountain linking Thon Tha to Khuoi My village. It is quite a hard mountain trek, but peaceful and very memorable. Today is an absolutely unforgettable trekking day because Khuoi My village is home to more than 62 Dao Ao Dai ethnic minority households located at the top of a mountain. Here is where the unique, unspoiled nature merges with the traditional life of the local people.

12:00: Break for a delicious picnic lunch near the rice terrace fields. Then you will continue to trek through the beautiful palm forest, discover tranquil mountains, graceful villages in this almost untouched area.

15:30: Return to Hanoi

22:30- 23:00: Arrive back in Hanoi. Tour ends
