Safari Ostrich Farm is a working ostrich farm 6 km outside Oudtshoorn. This is the only tractor tour on an ostrich farm in South Africa. Our 1 hour guided tours are focused on you having a wonderful interactive encounter with Ostriches. On our Tour you will learn something new about the world’s largest bird. Lunch will be served at a restaurant in Oudtshoorn where a small portion of ostrich meat can be sampled as part of a Karoo plate. The Cango Caves are one of the Seven Wonders of South Africa, and an archaeological and historical highlight of the Klein Karoo. It lies 30 km outside Oudtshoorn. From the entrance, a flight of stairs takes you down to the huge Van Zyl’s Hall, an amazing cave that’s 107m long, 54m at its widest and up to 17m in height. You can also look forward to seeing other formations like the 10m high Cleopatra’s Needle (estimated to be about 150 000 years old), the Organ Pipes, the Ballerina and the Frozen Waterfall.

There are several photo opportunities along this winding route which will leave you at awe. After the hike there’s an opportunity to add downhill mountain biking to get the adrenalin pumping. Buffelsdrift Game Lodge is part of EWT’s Cheetah Meta-population project, and are wanting to contribute towards the existence and increase of the free-roaming cheetah population in their natural habitat in Southern Africa. Cheetahs, like all other large predators, are heavily persecuted by livestock farmers. To conserve habitat for species such as the cheetah are a massive challenge to overcome. Buffelsdrift Game Lodge decided to contribute to this cause, by conserving the habitat for the cheetah and in so doing help to overcome the challenges that our cheetah meta-population faces. Track the free roaming cheetahs by vehicle and by foot in their natural environment at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge.

Experience the rubicon of gravel roads while in the saddle of a mountain bike. You will be transported to the top of the Swartberg pass, 1583m above sea level where you will be given a mountain bike. From here it is your time to experiment this winding pass with its steep zigzags and sudden switchbacks with breathtaking views at every turn. You can be entertained by over 500 species of fauna and flora in the back of your saddle, and down forget to keep a lookout for the Klipspringer (buck), Eagles, Dassies, and many other wildlife species.

During our bush safaris ( game drives ), you can expect to experience true Karoo vegetation from our open game viewing vehicles. Our wide range of animals include Hippo, Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Springbok and much more. The duration of our bush safaris is ± 2 hours. About midway through the safari, there is a refreshment break at one of our scenic lookout points. Guided half-day Swartberg Pass eco-tour. The Swartberg Mountains is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Swartberg Pass is a National Monument (gravel road)  and ascents 900m until you reach the summit. The tour includes a leisure walk on a Swartberg Mountain Trail with panoramic vistas over the Klein-and Great Karoo. You will also learn more about the conservation initiatives pioneered by the members of the H.O.P.E. Foundation. A light lunch is included after the tour.
