Kbal Spean: Located in the lush forests of the Kulen Hills, approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap, Kbal Spean is a unique archaeological site often referred to as the "River of a Thousand Lingas." This remarkable site features intricate carvings and sculptures etched into the riverbed and banks, depicting Hindu deities, animals, and symbols. Banteay Srei is renowned for its detailed and elaborate carvings that cover the walls, lintels, and pediments of the temple. These carvings depict scenes from Hindu mythology, including stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as intricate floral and geometric patterns. The craftsmanship is considered some of the finest in Khmer art. Banteay Samre showcases the Angkor Wat architectural style, with a central sanctuary surrounded by gopuras (entrance towers), libraries, and a series of concentric galleries. The temple's layout and design are reminiscent of Angkor Wat, but on a smaller scale.

Put on your walking shoes and discover the Cambodian jungle! Hidden from the beaten track lies Kbal Spean with the “River of Thousand Lingas” and an impressive waterfall in rainy season. To get to the top of Kbal Spean and appreciate the intricately carved stone river bed you have to conquer a fairly steep incline, but fear not – the path is well worn and the biggest obstacles and boulders are overcome by series of well maintained wooden staircases, yet at least medium level of fitness is required for this 3km jungle walk. On your way back you will visit a small temple of Banteay Srei well known for its beautiful delicate carvings in warm pink sandstone. This late 10th century structure is fairly compact and very different from other Angkorian temples. To round off your day you may also visit Banteay Samre – a larger temple which is often overlooked by tourists and looks gorgeous in late afternoon light. Travelling back to Siem Reap and drop off at hotel.

This tour will start at 8:00 after you have had breakfast and we’ll start the journey to Kbal Spean. Along the way, we’ll stop at Dom Dek market so that you can explore a local market and see how the locals do their grocery shopping! We’ll then continue our journey to visit Kbal Spean – also known as the River of a 100 Lingas. We’ll enjoy the views of the surrounding forests and river before stopping for lunch. After lunch, we’ll go to Banteay Srei temple which is also known as the “Jewel of Angkor” due to it’s unparalleled beauty. On the way back to Siem Reap, we’ll stop at the Cambodian Landmine Museum.

We begin with Kbal Spean, about 49km from Siem Reap Town and it is literally means "The head of the River.” It is one of the rivers in 1000 Lingas that made up of unique Lingas. We head further out through rural countryside to the small but beautiful temple of Banteay Srei. This temple is largely built of pink sandstone, a harder rock that can be more elaborately carved and better survives the rigors of time. Not be missed is Banteay Samre: Its rose-colored sandstone walls are decorated with carvings and bas-reliefs, which are among the most accomplished Angkor has to offer. This mid 12th century temple features mixture of Buddhism and Hinduism attributes and is particularly mesmerising in the wet season.
