7hr Waimangu Geothermal Valley & Lake Rotomahana Tour – Departs Tauranga
Leaving Tauranga you head south through rolling farmland and forestry, past Lake Rotorua and on to the magical Waimangu Valley where your guide will take you through the world’s youngest geothermal valley. Starting at the head of the valley you will wind your way down the 4 klm walk, passing a range of geothermal activity, hot springs, volcanic craters, and wildlife. Some highlights to look out for include the world's largest hot spring, and the brilliant blue Inferno Crater.
The trails ultimately lead you down to the lake, where you’ll enjoy a relaxing 45 minute cruise around the tranquil waters of Lake Rotomahana. On the cruise, you'll encounter stunning geothermal activity only accessible by boat, as well as rare native birdlife, and stunning views across the lake at the imposing Mount Tarawera. You can also listen to the onboard commentary of the historic stories of the lake, and hear about the 1886 Mount Tarawera eruption that covered and destroyed the pink and white terraces.

Explore the geothermal valley in its entirety with the full Waimangu Experience. Discover New Zealand’s geothermal landscapes at your own pace on this independent Waimangu walking & hiking tour. Follow gentle graded track or rugged hiking trails through the geothermal valley, and take in top natural attractions like Frying Pan Lake, the World's largest hot spring, and the stunning blue Inferno Crater Lake.
The trails head down to Lake Rotomahana, where you'll board your geothermal boat cruise. Learn about the history of the lake and the famous Pink and White Terraces, and see geothermal lakeside features like spouting geysers and steaming cliffs and fumeroles.
The valley is serviced by a free shuttle bus service, so you can walk as much or as little as you want, and return up to the visitor centre by bus after your cruise.

Hell’s Gate Day Safari with Option of Boat Ride or Geothermal Spa
This day trip takes you 90 km northwest of Nairobi to the floor of the Great Rift Valley. The park provides a variety of wildlife, unusual flora, and many species of birds and is one of the only two Kenyan Parks where climbing, walking, and biking are allowed. Animals seen here include Bushbucks, Dik Dik, Gazelles, Gnus, Hartebeests, Impalas, Klipspringers, Buffaloes, Hyraxes, Zebras, Hyenas, Jackals, Mongooses, Baboons, Monkeys and Porcupines amongst other animals. Hell's Gate National Park entry fee is USD 27 payable by Visa or credit card through E-citizen.
The fee for the boat ride if you choose to participate in the boat ride, is USD 25 per person.
