George Everest

Many decades ago, George Everest, a skilled cartographer, served as the Surveyor General of India. It is after him that the world’s highest mountain is named. Based in Dehradun, he meticulously travelled the country mapping each detail. Today, his former residence has been transformed into a unique cartography museum, inviting visitors to explore the captivating world of mapping.

George Everest Nature Walk starts from the Sea Green Lodge at Park Chungi, Hathipaon which is about 3 km from Gandhi Chowk in Mussoorie. Take a scenic & adventurous hike upto the legendary Sir George Everest’s house & observatory. Sir George Everest was the surveyor General of India who completed the Trigonometric Survey Of India in late 1800s.
