Departing from Galway at 10:00 AM, you begin your fully guided tour of Connemara & Cong at our first photo stop near the scenic Inagh Valley. Our main stop is the enchanting Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Gardens. The admission fee for Kylemore Abbey is charged separately at the discounted price of €14 per person (tickets are purchased in cash from your driver). Admission includes entrance to the Abbey, the shuttle bus to the walled gardens and entry to the Neo Gothic Church. There is also a restaurant where you can purchase a hearty lunch and a gift shop for souvenirs. Arriving in Cong village, you will enjoy a 45-minute break to inspect the ruins of the Old Abbey and take a walk in Cong Woods, wander the streets made famous by the Quiet Man movie before returning to Galway by approximately 18:00

The Quiet Man Film Locations Walking Tour is a must for fans of the John Wayne classic, The Quiet Man. The guided tour brings visitors to the original film locations including Inisfree, Castletown, the Pat Cohan's Bar, the Dying Man's House, the Reverend Playfair's House, the fight scenes, the courting scenes and the "patty fingers in the holy water" scenes. Visitors hear: what happened when Hollywood invaded the sleepy village of Cong in 1951; what the film stars were like; how they interacted with the locals; and how the locals became intimately involved in the making of the movie. The tour includes entrance to The Quiet Man Museum. Visitors can dress up in costume for photos and re-enactments. A great interactive experience full of good old Irish craic. The walking tour and museum entry last approximately 1 hour. The tour consists of a short, easy stroll around the village of Cong with stops every few minutes at the movie locations.

The Quiet Man Museum offers an on-set experience with exact replicas of all the key furnishings and artifacts from the movie including Sean Thornton’s big bed, Mary Kate’s cottage piano, china, pewter, cradle and the tandem bicycle, as well as costumes made by the same company – O’Maille’s of Galway – who made them for John Ford in 1951. Quiet Man enthusiasts can dress up in costume for photos. The Quiet Man Museum houses the original fishing rod used by Father Lonergan and Michaeleen Og’s horse Napoleon’s original harness and a first edition of the Maurice Walsh collection of short stories, Green Rushes, on which the screenplay for The Quiet Man was based. The Museum also showcases the largest collection of Irish newspaper articles from the time the movie was filmed, which were sourced through a painstaking trawl of the microfiche files in local libraries. This first hand account allows enthusiasts to read exactly what it was like when Hollywood took over the village of Cong in 1951.

The "Corrib Queen" departs from Oughterard pier daily (except Tuesdays) at 12:00pm, and sails onto Inchagoill Island. En route passengers experience awe inspiring views of the Connemara mountains, and experience the beauty of Lough Corrib's 365 islands.Having arrived on Inchagoill Island, passengers will be given a guided tour at St. Patricks monastic site which dates back to the 5th century.
