Leave  your Hotel in Antigua to visit a Pre- Columbian Mesoamerican archaeological site on a ride of 1 hour and a half towards the western highlands of Guatemala. Iximche was the capital of the late Post classic Kaqchikel Maya Kingdom from 1470 until its temples, palaces and two Mesoamerican ball courts, be amazed watching one of the  best restored archaeological sites of Guatemala and the whole mayan world in general.

Guatemala has Mayan cities that had their heyday at different times, those of the Classic Maya period (200 BC to 900 AD) predominate in the north somewhat far from the current city of Guatemala, and those of the Postclassic period (900 AD to 1,524 AD) In the West, one of the most emblematic sites is Iximché, capital of the Kaqchiquel manor, nowadays the visitor can appreciate the vestiges that were left after the destruction caused by the conquerors, also this place was the scene of the foundation of Guatemala. Departure from Guatemala City at 06:30 am. with direction to the department of Sololá to make the guided tour in Santa Catarina and San Antonio Palopó. At the end there is a mobilization to Panajchel where the guide gives an estimated time for lunch. At 16:00 pm return to Guatemala City.  The Guatemalan Altiplano is one of the most important destinations for the appreciation of Mayan culture.
