Private City Tour in Salvador
Explore all of legendary Salvador of Bahia on this 4-hour city tour. The tour is private and comprised of a private service, meaning guests will get to see the city’s most famous sites, like the Barra Fortress and Bahia Lighthouse. Also visit colonial neighborhoods protected by UNESCO, and the Pelourinho, the oldest part of Brazil.
Boat tour: charming Cascais Coast to Lisbon lighthouse
Starting in the charming town of Cascais, we make our way along the stunning beaches of the Estoril coast, passing the Carcavelos sandy beach and the iconic São Julião da Barra Fort, that marks the entrance to the Tagus freshwater towards the Bugio lighthouse, the gateway to Lisbon.
Also noteworthy along the route is the Santo António Fort in São João do Estoril, the holiday home of António Oliveira Salazar, the dictator who ruled the country from 1933 until the 1974 revolution and where he had an accident that precipitated his death.
The tour ends with a circumnavigation of the Bugio lighthouse fortification, with a view of the famous red bridge over the Tagus river, with clear similarities to the Alcatraz complex and the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco as they coincide in time. A palette of sensations and experiences, combining sea and river, picturesque and modern.
Salvador Upper City tour – discover the World Heritage Site of Salvador.
On this tour, you will know the most important places in the old part of Salvador. As it has been the first capital of Brazil this is also a historical tour. We visit the neighborhood of Barra, the place where the Portuguese colony started and where I discovered Salvador some decades ago… but I had more eye for the beaches at that time! We visit the iconic lighthouse to have a splendid view of the bay and ocean. We take the Avenue of the 7th of September to get to the Pelourinho, my favorite place in Salvador.
It's also called the Historical Center, a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, and it's a must for the visitors. A complete old neighborhood, upon a cliff inside the bay, full of churches and magnificent colorful mansions in typical Portuguese colonial style. We visit this place walking through the lively squares and cobblestone streets experiencing the local atmosphere and people that will not let you impassive.

Salvador Full Day City Tour – a complete day to discover this magic Salvador!
The best way to experience the city of Salvador, dive into its history, culture, religiosity, and the habits of the people of Bahia, is to combine the Upper City and Lower City tours into one Full Day tour (see also the descriptions of the Upper and Lower City tours).
One of my favorite places in the Upper City is the Pelourinho neighborhood, where besides the beauty of the monuments, squares and colonial houses, you can feel the sympathy, energy and joy of the Soteropoletanos – that's how the locals of Salvador are called – who work and live in this lively neighborhood. Maybe you'll be able to experience some action, like Capoeira dancing or a local drum band performing in the streets.
You will have the opportunity to lunch in a cozy, local restaurant and taste one of the delicious regional dishes, such as my favorite, the "moqueca", a stew of fish and or seafood prepared in the African way!
This tour offers you an unforgettable experience with satisfaction guaranteed!
The Little Venice of Portugal: Aveiro Small Group Tour with Typical Boat Ride
Aveiro, which is considered “our small Venice” is a destination in the centre of Portugal that you should not miss.
This region is rich in old traditions, from the typical boats “moliceiros” along the channels of the town to the famous regional sweets of “ovos-moles” and the “Salinas” where you can see how salt is exploited. All these make this visit memorable and unique.
Our aim is to show you the striking beauty of the place and the traditions of its inhabitants.
After visiting the centre we will head to the coast to visit the picturesque fishing village of Costa Nova with its lovely stripe painted houses.
In full contact with the Atlantic Ocean we will be surprised by the famous “Farol da Barra” (Lighthouse) which is the highest in Portugal and one of the highest in Europe.
Aveiro, Costa Nova beach and Moliceiro Boat, half-day from Coimbra
After picking up the participants in Coimbra, we will head to Aveiro, less than an hour away. We'll start aboard one of the traditional Moliceiros boats, which were formerly used to catch "moliço" and to transport seaweed and salt. After boarding, we will make a 45-minute journey through the urban channels that characterize and divide the city known as the “Portuguese Venice“.
Then, we will go to Praia da Barra where we get to know the mouth of the Vouga river and the Aveiro estuary, barred by strong walls which gave rise to a beautiful beach without waves much sought after by families. We can also appreciate the lighthouse of Aveiro.
After visiting, we continue to Costa Nova, one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal and also with the most original neighborhood due to the houses painted with different colored stripes that border the Ria.
After enjoying all that Costa Nova has to offer, we will return to Coimbra and finish the tour.
From Aveiro: Costa Nova, Barra, Vista Alegre – Half-Day Trip
We will travel for some time in a young land, created by nature, where less than a millennium ago it was open sea.
This tour, focused on nature and the transformation of the landscape allows us to understand how amazing the Ria de Aveiro region is and how it shaped its inhabitants, and how it was shaped by them.
The salt pans, the large canals, the typical boats and also the large fishing ones, the striped painted houses on the Costa Nova, the harbor entrance, the lighthouse, porcelain factory and its chapel at Vista Alegre are all vestiges of an impressive effort by women and men throughout the centuries.
A unique route in a unique region.
